My Affordable Weekend Getaway Tips + Tricks
As most of you know I live for travel! Guys, traveling is not just for the rich. It's a right we all have, + I believe most of us don't know how to do it... so here is are my tips and tricks to an "Affordable Weekend Getaway" so you all can get out more without going broke!
Tip 1: Drive! Find a location (up to 5) hours away you’ve never been to! Most people forget to take advantage of the “adventure” of just visiting a new city/place. It doesn’t have to be the beach or Vegas (while those are so fun), so is getting away with your loved one to try a new restaurant, walk through a new park or try a new activity. Plus, the drive gives you plenty of time to connect + talk.
Tip 2: Points! The number one way to save money is by using points to stay anywhere. Airlines, hotels + lots of other companies have programs to earn points to use later. This will also build status for upgrades, free breakfast + more! Taking advantage of this will give you so many options! The more you spend, the more you’ll save!
Tip 3: Find Deals! Groupon has green weekend getaway deals on hotels, food, activities + more! Check the local destination to find great prices + new ideas for fun stuff to do! If you are flying, try searching on kayak.com to find the best deal. When you choose your destination, look up the activities going on that weekend for free stuff or last minute tickets!
Tip 4: Pack! Packing smart, like grabbing snacks for the road or groceries for breakfast help you save money during the day so you can spend more on the fun stuff!
Tip 5: Share! Yes, food + drinks are a big part of travel spending! Sharing meals, like fajitas, appetizers or desserts can save a bunch while still getting to goto all the places you want! For even better savings, hit up happy hours during meal times, and then try activities when everyone else is eating!
Tip 4: Plan! Anyone can have an incredible weekend on a budget if planned right! It takes effort, creativity + time, but that’s what the long drive is for!😉
Some of the best weekend trips I’ve ever had cost half as much as the trips where we just booked stuff + didn’t care about the price. Why? Because it all comes down to being intentional. Especially for a romantic weekend getaway... intentionality is completely romantic! ❤️💋🍷 No matter if your weekend is alone, with your bae or with the family, planning ahead can save you tons!
