The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek...
The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek. [Joseph Campbell]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What is that cave? For most of us, it's taking look inside us. Listening to the voice that directs us. Why are we scared? Because we are uncertain. Certainty is something we have come to rely on since being a child. Now as adults, we can't pivot, trust or believe the best like we once used to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Walking into this cave I was absolutely afraid. First off, no one was there. Bats were flying everywhere as we walked in. We had to almost crawl in certain parts + we had no guide. I knew in the middle would be a light (from reading reviews) but I didn't see it right away + considered turning back several times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In life do you ever make a choice, start it, question it, regret it, remember why you did it, keep going... among lots of other emotions ? I will talk about "why" we do that in a later post...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We all, deep down, know what to do. Going inside the cave of our soul can be scary because it's easier to stay outside + stay distracted. Growing up I used EVERYTHING + EVERYONE else outside of me to distract from the pain, abuse + secrets inside.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most of you know me, I was in ministry, I was married + had lived a pretty flawless life. Until I didn't. After that, the cave inside me exploded with all the pain I had been covering. All the coping mechanisms (the church, my community, my titles + my marriage) were gone, I was completely alone in the cave of my soul - finally facing what I needed to for over 20 years!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even now, daily, I still enter this cave. I am still finding stuff I didn't know was there. I am constantly discovering things. But I am FINALLY finding true light in the center of my soul. Learning real life is MESSY + that's okay.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek. Are you ready to go in? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
