I would rather make mistakes than fake perfection

We are all scared to make mistakes, especially #millennials. Mistakes aren’t pretty, they cause people to shame you, doubt you, even leave you. Yet, I don’t know why, because everyone makes mistakes? It's incredible that we want so badly to validate ourselves, that we use others mistakes to make ourselves feel better, instead of helping those who are tripping around us.

I hate to break it to you, but yes, some of the greatest leaders in my life have some of the most disgusting “mess ups” in their closet, they just keep it hidden so they don’t “lose their influence”. #fakeittillyoumakeit lol or not. #fakeittillitburnsyou. It's so terrible all these "celebrity influencers" are ending it all because the "faking it" becomes too difficult. There were secrets no one knew about. They can't keep up the act of "having it all together" anymore.

Real “perfection” is accomplished by being your best, trying your hardest, getting up when you fall, while being vulnerable to others- helping them know what to do when they fall... (no one is without a trips + falls.) Some of the greatest sports stories come from injuries, comebacks + underdog moments. Can you imagine where this world might be if we all cheered each other on, picked one another up, or shared our resources (water, encouragement, money, testimony)?

I must warn you... Be careful of the criticism you have toward others, because life has a funny way of throwing it right back at you. The thing you judge, you will have to face in your own weakness. The person you kick, will one day get up + have a voice to talk about it. The higher up you put yourself, the harder you have to work to stay there. What might happen if we leaned in + asked questions to UNDERSTAND instead of pushing others down so we can STAND ON TOP?

Please know if you build your life, marriage or career on a lie, it will come down when you can’t keep up with tall tales (no matter how good your intent is). Be real. Don't be afraid to tell your spouse you are struggling. Don't be too prideful to tell your teammate you're injured. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, don’t be scared to be yourself, AND PLEASE don’t worry about “followers” (or friends for that matter). People want to follow someone real, strong + courageous - not fake, arrogant or full of BS. There is so much marketing + clutter on the web these days, people are starting to become numb to all the noise. The new content that will cut through the clutter is speaking vulnerably. Pretty + perfect was "cute" but times are changing #socialmedia! Get ready... xoxo 💋
